Abbotsford Convent - Melbourne

I visited this place for the first time for a family wedding on November 1st - and would love to have had the time to visit the gardens more than time permitted me on this occasion.  I will add the venue to my list of things to do when I return to Melbourne at some time.

These were decorations at the Reception.

Along the Glenelg Esplanade.

Recently while staying in South Australia I stayed at Glenelg, on the waterfront on North Esplanade.  I went for several long walks and one was north to the Adelaide Sailing Club - and the boat ramp etc there.  There were many interesting plants along the top of the rocks.

Some of my flowers....

A few years ago I think - dredged up the photos recently.  The bottom one is one of our favourites from the days of our Gerbera farm.

My Hippeastrums

My large pot of some 6 plants have been "languishing" at my daughter's place for nearly three years as I travelled, but now settled in Beachmere, I rescued them some months ago.  The pot was dry, and there was hardly any sign of the bulbs.

I moved them to Beachmere, added some water and eventually the shiny green leaves appeared.  Then at long last one bud - and I have watched it develop over several weeks.

Today, it opened.

Roses on the Table

I have been experimenting with some of the settings on my camera.  These are the result of today's experiments.  The roses are from the garden at the house where I am staying and there are always fresh roses on the table.

Sturt Desert Pea

It is a long time since I have seen this flower in bloom - it is a spectacular flower and I was thrilled to see Sturt's Desert Pea flowering in Kings Park, Perth.  I took this photo with my Samsung point and shoot camera.

Kings Park in Perth, Western Australia

These photos were taken in a walk through Kings Park, Perth.  They are wildflowers, but blooming in summer.  I hope to get back to Western Australia during wildflower season in September/- November to see the glorious flowers around these parts of the country.
