Roses on the Table

I have been experimenting with some of the settings on my camera.  These are the result of today's experiments.  The roses are from the garden at the house where I am staying and there are always fresh roses on the table.

Sturt Desert Pea

It is a long time since I have seen this flower in bloom - it is a spectacular flower and I was thrilled to see Sturt's Desert Pea flowering in Kings Park, Perth.  I took this photo with my Samsung point and shoot camera.

Kings Park in Perth, Western Australia

These photos were taken in a walk through Kings Park, Perth.  They are wildflowers, but blooming in summer.  I hope to get back to Western Australia during wildflower season in September/- November to see the glorious flowers around these parts of the country.

Ooops

It is a while since I posted photos here of the flowers that appeal to me.  I will soon update this site.

Agapanthus

Bamboo and Agapanthus at Adelaide Zoo

Adelaide Zoo is fantastic.  I read somewhere that it is not just a zoo, but a garden where animals live.  There are many bamboo plantings especially around the Giant Panda exhibit, and the rows of agapanthus are beautiful.

Lavender

Lavender at the Lyndoch Lavender Farm - this farm, shop, cafe is a good place to visit from Adelaide South Australia in the Barossa Valley.

Verbena Gone Wild

As I neared Miles (Queensland) I was impressed to see fields of purple flowers (purple is my favourite colour), though I knew not what they were until I spoke with folk at Miles.

They are not native to Australia, and sadly have run amok around the west of Brisbane.  Along the side of the roads, there are purple patches of these flowers.  They go for hundreds of kilometers.  The local folk get angry that in the city, these plants are for sale - giving further opportunity for them to be seeded and sent further into places where they are not wanted.
